Based in Kenya, Purity became our first Fellow in January 2021, after we supported a major investigation with her then Africa Uncensored colleagues. This led to her attending a week long Finance Uncovered training course in Abuja, Nigeria in 2019.

Purity's fellowship with us was so successful that she then became our Data Lead, providing crucial research for collaborative investigations including the Pandora Papers project both in Kenya and the UK, and our Agents of Secrecy work in the UK, Russia and Seychelles.

Purity's career has blossomed. She is one of the most respected data journalists in Africa and is now OCCRP's Africa Data Lead.

Starting as a statistics lecturer at various Kenyan universities, Purity's career has spanned banking and research before she switched to investigative journalism. She has also worked with BBC Africa Eye and the ICIJ.
